5th/6th Grade

Following Fourth Grade, more emphasis is now put on technical skill abilities

Practices should emphasize skill development, passing drills, one-on ones
Continue to emphasize proper trapping skills with chest, foot and thigh
Heading the ball should be taught in earnest
Scrimmages should be done nine-a-side
Introduction of agility and strength training while maximizing touches.
Always have the players jog and run with the ball.
Introduce tactics, diamond midfield, passing in triangles and creating more triangles as the ball is passed up the field which creates players more options for passing the ball
Crossing the ball is practiced heavily
Set plays are practiced heavily
Positioning awareness is now at the forefront
Offside is introduced
Practices can now be 75 minutes long
