2nd Grade

Now we see both gross and fine motor skills are beginning to be more refined.
​
Players’ ability to stay on task is lengthened
Greater physical development leads to more physical maturity and better motor skills
Emphasize the break up of the bee-hive
Introduce the concept of positions
Practices should be in smaller groups
Games/scrimmages should be seven-a-side
Continue the work started in 1st grade by honing kicking, shooting skills
Introduce concepts of throw-in, corner kicks, set plays
Introuduce speed to executing soccer skills
Introduce concepts of man-to-man play, dribbling by the opposition
Introduce different trapping methods, foot, thigh and chest
Slowly introduce heading the ball
Practices should be limited to 60 minutes
